About the Babylon to Mehran road

Babylon (Hilla) lies about 100 km south of Baghdad on the Najaf–Karbala road and is the gateway to the Middle Euphrates; lines run from it to Erbil and to the Mehran crossing into Iran.

Mehran is an Iranian border town opposite the Zurbatiya crossing (Wasit), the shortest overland route from the Middle Euphrates and Baghdad into Iran, with onward buses to Ilam, Tehran and Qom.
