What to expect
The border
A minibus covers the Baghdad–border leg (Munthiriya/Khosravi near Khanaqin) and an Iranian VIP coach the Iranian leg. Border processing can be long in pilgrimage seasons and is not precisely counted in the journey time.
Documents
A valid passport. Entry rules for Iraqi citizens change (visa or visa waiver); confirm the current procedure with the operator or the consulate before booking.
Coach and luggage
VIP coaches with reclining seats, air conditioning and USB, one large bag in the hold and a hand bag inside, with prayer and meal stops.
Payment
Payment: online in advance via ZainCash or card (this operator does not take cash on boarding). Arrive 20 minutes before departure.
Hilla
Babylon (Hilla) lies about 100 km south of Baghdad on the Najaf–Karbala road and is the gateway to the Middle Euphrates; lines run from it to Erbil and to the Mehran crossing into Iran.
