Calling all backpackers visiting Iraq: we hear you

Last updated: 17 October 2026

Don't want to bother with guides, paid consultations or trip itineraries? Fine. We help you for free and give you all the advice you need on roads, cities, border crossings and real prices. Why free? Because we are backpackers ourselves: Wb3den Transport is inspired by @wb3dennn, so we know the love and the struggles of backpacking, and we would love to help and share information the same way we receive it when we travel. And yes, you will probably use our platform to book intercity travel, because we are the best and the only option to book online in Iraq.

How backpackers move around Iraq

Between cities: shared cars (a sedan for three or an SUV for six to seven) and VIP buses run around the clock; seats are sold per person and the front seat costs a little more. Booking online gives you the same price locals pay, a seat reserved in your name, and pickup from your address on many lines. Inside cities, ask us and we point you to the easiest way around.

What it costs

Shared-car seats between Baghdad and Erbil, Sulaimaniya, Kirkuk or Mosul usually start from 35,000 IQD per person; the Erbil – Istanbul coach from 73,750 IQD; Baghdad – Amman from 82,500 IQD. Live prices are on the route pages and in search.

Land borders that matter to you

Türkiye: Ibrahim Khalil (Zakho – Silopi), daily coaches from Erbil, Duhok, Zakho, Sulaimaniya and Kirkuk. Iran: Munthiriya – Khosravi (from Baghdad), Mehran – Zurbatiya (from the Middle Euphrates), Shalamcheh (from Basra). Jordan: Trebil – Karameh (from Baghdad via Anbar). Always your passport, and check each country's visa.

Kurdistan Region vs federal Iraq

Two different visas: the Region's visa does not let you into Baghdad and the south, while the federal visa does let you into the Region. Checkpoints at the Region boundary (near Kirkuk and Mosul) check passports; keep it on you.

Night travel and safety

Night travel is safe and the normal way to go in Iraq: most long trips (Baghdad – Duhok, Baghdad – Basra, Baghdad – Erbil) leave at night or at dawn and arrive in the morning, saving a hotel night and skipping daytime traffic. Locals travel around the clock and the drivers listed on the platform are licensed, so pick the departure that suits you with confidence.

Ask us

A route? A budget? Which crossing? The night trip? (yes, safe and usual) Send your question on WhatsApp or on Instagram @wb3dennn and we answer the way we like to be answered on the road: honestly and for free.

The platform grew out of our own trips on @wb3dennn, and that spirit is what we try to put into every booking.
